Hello, I’m Chelsey Jernberg Peschges,
MA, LPCC, PMH-C

I’m the owner and founder of Nova North Therapy, and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in Medina, MN. After several years working in both group and individual settings, I founded Nova North Therapy in 2024.

My work is grounded in trauma-informed approaches, including EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. These methods support healing not just through talking, but by working with how trauma is held in the body and nervous system.  I also integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you develop a different relationship with thoughts and emotions - one that creates more flexibility, resilience, and alignment with what matters most to you.

Therapy with me is not about "fixing" you. It's about helping you understand your story, reconnect with your body and values, and move toward a life that feels more grounded, meaningful, and your own.

On a personal level, staying active is my way of making the most of every moment. I’m most happy outside, whether that be on a lake up north, skiing with my husband in the mountains, or just chasing my wild toddlers and crazy dog around the backyard. I love live music and adding to the pile of books I'll finish reading one day.

specializations

Perinatal Therapy

After having two of my own children and experiencing first hand the difficulty of pregnancy and postpartum, I was drawn to become a more direct resource for families during this challenging time. I am certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International and I strive to advocate and support parents through this transformative period in their lives.

Late Adolescents & Young Adults

I have a passion for helping people navigate the unique challenges of this critical development stage. I offer tailored therapeutic interventions designed to address issues such as anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and the pressures of emerging adulthood. By fostering a compassionate and supportive environment, I work to empower young individuals to build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and cultivate a strong sense of self. Additionally, I provide specialized support for high-achieving students and competitive sports athletes, helping them manage the demands of their rigorous environments.

Life Transitions & Relationships

Recognizing that we are wired for connection, my therapeutic approach focuses on understanding each client’s unique value system. By utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients take actionable steps toward creating meaningful change. Whether navigating major life events, evolving personal relationships, or addressing interpersonal conflicts, my goal is to foster resilience and empower clients to align their actions with their core values.

Trauma

I am committed to helping clients navigate the complex aftermath of traumatic experiences after working for years with both individuals and groups in an intensive outpatient program. I am trained in EMDR (EMDRIA-certified program) and am Level 1 certified in sensorimotor through the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. You can find more information on both of these modalities in my blog.
